Office of Research Safety
The Office of Research Safety (ORS) partners with UC and UCMC Environmental Health & Safety, divisional lab safety specialists and centers, and various institutional committees to monitor and support safe research on campus. In collaboration with faculty principal investigators and committees, we institute protocols, manage inventories, facilitate laboratory inspections, and administer training courses related to biological, chemical, radiation, and laser safety.

Research Development Support
The Research Development Support (RDS) team assists faculty across divisions in the pursuit of federal funding for large-scale, interdisciplinary, multi-investigator research projects and centers. We offer support throughout the entire pre-award timeline from nascent idea to grant proposal submission. We also administer the Big Ideas Generator (BIG) pilot fund program, coordinate the internal process for limited submission funding opportunities, and manage the appointment of affiliated researchers into the UChicago Consortium for Advanced Science and Engineering (CASE).
