Find Funding
UChicago Research offers researchers a set of tools to help them identify both internal and external funding opportunities.
The resources below and related offices can help you find federal, corporate and foundation funding for your research. The University of Chicago has been an international leader in basic and applied science research for more than 100 years.
Funding Search Engine
Begin your funding search by using Pivot-RP, a searchable grant funding database, which targets opportunities that fit your research interests and goals. UChicago subscribes to Pivot, a powerful tool that allows faculty, students and administrators to search $44 billion in funding opportunities from federal, non-federal, foundation, corporate, and other private sponsors across a wide variety of disciplines. Pivot users can create a profile to set up customized searches and receive email alerts about new opportunities that match their search criteria.
Visit the Pivot page to learn more and start searching.
Funding Application Portal
University of Chicago’s funding portal, InfoReady Review, is the online hub for applying to the University’s internal funding opportunities, including seed funds and limited submissions. The site can be used to find and apply for funding, as well as manage applications, reviews, and reports. InfoReady Review provides increased accessibility, reducing faculty and administrative burden, and fosters better understanding the impact of internal funding across the University.
Federal Funding
Unsure of where to start your federal funding search? Speak with your Department Chair or contact your Dean’s Office as a first step in identifying prospective federal funding opportunities for research and programs. You may also reach out to Research Development Support to request targeted federal research for your large or complex programs or projects.
Seed Funding
The University of Chicago offers a variety of internal funding opportunities across divisions, from collaborative research opportunities with National Labs, to diversity initiatives, support for workshops, graduate student support, and more.

Corporate & Foundation Funding
The Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations, within the Office of Alumni Relations and Development, is a campus-wide resource that fosters philanthropic relationships with non-governmental organizational donors such as private foundations and corporate foundations for research, teaching and other programs. They provide assistance to faculty and administrators across all divisions, schools, and programs.
Visit the Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations website to learn more about funding opportunities, request targeted funding strategies and proposal resources.
Limited Opportunities
Limited opportunities are grants that require an internal selection process because there is a limit on the number of applications that can be submitted by the University. Always check the funding solicitation to see if an opportunity is limited and if it has an internal limited submission deadline before you decide to apply.
Visit the Limited Opportunities page on our Funding Portal for a list of current opportunities and internal deadlines.
Internal Funding
Early-stage funding can bolster promising research ideas. The Research Development Support team works with our on campus partners to connect researchers with seed funding that is rapid, flexible and tolerant of false starts.
